The gold ground deepens to amber in morning sun and pushes toward brass under evening light. Against a dark wall the masks come forward. Against ochre plaster or warm linen the whole piece sinks into the room like it was always there. Frame in natural oak or walnut to keep the warmth unbroken, or slim black to sharpen the contrast.
